About

Headwinds exists because the wind doesn't care.

Not about your splits, your gear, or your plan. Deep enough into a mountain day, everything false gets stripped away and what's left is you, the trail, and whatever you're wearing.

You go into it. That is what the name means.

Who's behind this

I'm an ultrarunner. I train on aggressive mountain trails and race distances that make normal people ask "but why" — 50s, 100s, the long stuff. Headwinds is the gear I actually train in, built the way I wished somebody else had built it. Every piece gets worn on real climbs, for real hours, before it goes on the site — because I'm the founder, but I'm the QA department first.

Two lines

Naturals is cotton, wool and lyocell — the pieces that stay natural all the way through. Performance is for the days the terrain decides how hard it gets — and where a synthetic does a job there, the product page names it to the percent. Either way, you always know exactly what you're wearing.

What's being built

The flagship is a merino and lyocell race tee that doesn't exist on any shelf. The first sample is commissioned, and it gets tested the only way that counts: long days in the mountains, on my own skin. Built slowly, honestly, and in public. Join the Grind List — the signup at the bottom of every page — if you want to watch it happen, failures included.

Run with us

There is a Strava club: Headwinds — Chase the Wind. It is not a marketing channel. It is where the miles get logged — the ugly runs, the DNFs, the climbs that broke you. Nobody in there cares about your pace.
